Activities:
Read Poe´s biography.
At the end of the presentation you can find several links which you will use to search the following works:
Poem "The Raven"
Short story "The Black Cat"

1.- Read the "The Black Cat"
1.1. Write a list of new vocabulary with the corresponding definitions
1.2. Answer the following questions:
- Who is the narrator?
- Is he fond of animals?
- What are black cats according to his wife?
1.3. Make more questions about the story.
1.4. Change the last paragraph: instead of it, add a new paragraph in order to get a different end.
1.5. Express yourself: personal opinion.




2.- Read “The Raven”
2.1. Find examples of literary devices such as rhyme, alliteration, use of unfamiliar words, etc
2.2. In your own words, explain the poem. Who is the narrator? Who is Lenore? Who is the raven?
2.3. Write down a list of vocabulary related to the gloomy atmosphere.

Shakespeare´s profile

Activities:

1.- Choose one of the sonnets from Shakespeare´s presentation and write a list of rhyming pairs ( e.g. shines and declines). Add a third word to the pair which is not in the sonnet.

2.- Regular and irregular verbs:

a) Find the verbs in the past simple tense in the presentation and divide them in two groups: regular and irregular.

b) Observe the irregular past forms and create possible groups according to their spelling.

c) Add an extra example to each group and one or more different groups.

3.- Reading Comprehension: make questions about W. Shakespeare.

4.- Translate the words from Shakespeare´s new vocabulary.

5.- Find information about Shakespeare´s work "The Tempest" and write a review of it.

6.- Investigation on the Internet (optional pair work): search possible answers to the questions proposed in the presentation and expose the most likely to be true, explaining your reasons with information from several sources.
